Film Club hints atchanges as it holdsannual meeting


Plans are already in the pipeline for a two screen cinema complex on the site of the former FE building at nearby Lion Street.
The AGM takes place at 6.45pm today (Friday) and will be followed by the screening of the monthly film which will be the comedy sci-fi drama About Time, directed by Richard Curtis and starring Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams.

Hide AdRye Film Club was founded in 1998 to bring a range of ‘classic films’ to a local audience of members and guests.
The very first cinema in Rye, The Electric Palace, was opened around 1910 in Landgate, it was said to be one of the first air-condition cinema’s in the country.
Following it’s closure the Regent Cinema was opened in Cinque Ports Street in October 1932 with 671 seats.
Membership of Rye Film Club is £12 for 3 performances within 6 months. Non members can watch films for £5. Films start at 7pm and refreshments are available.
