Fire at Haywards Heath home: people asked to avoid area as crews remain on scene

A fire broke out at a Haywards Heath home this morning (Tuesday, August 16).

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service announced on Twitter at 12.23pm: “At 10.41am we were called to a fire at a property in Bentswood Road, Haywards Heath.”

They said that at its peak there were four fire engines from Haywards Heath Fire Station, Burgess Hill Fire Station and East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service at the scene as well as a command support unit.

The WSFRS spokesperson continued: “All people have been accounted for.

“A fire in the first floor of the property has been extinguished using hose reels and jets.”

Crews from Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill remain at the scene damping down and people are asked to avoid the area.
