West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said crews were called just after 1.30pm to reports of a fire in a farm building off The Street.

A spokesperson said: “Both appliances from Midhurst Fire Station were mobilised to the scene by Joint Fire Control along with two Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service crews from Petersfield and Liphook.

“Upon arrival it was believed that the fire was out already, so the Midhurst crews, wearing breathing apparatus, were deployed into the building to locate the source of the fire.

“After cutting away some of the fire damage this was found to be in a light fitting.

“Crews worked to make the scene safe and, before leaving the scene at 2.36pm, provided fire safety advice to the owner and installed a small alarm at the property.”
