Fire in Pelham Hotel rear car park - witnesses sought

EAST Sussex fire and rescue services attended a fire in the rear car park of the Pelham Hotel, Holliers Hill, Bexhill on Tuesday 13th April at 11.45am.

Approximately one hundred and fifty old tyres had been set alight.

After extinguishing the fire, the fire brigade informed police that the fire had been a deliberate act.

An officer from Bexhill police said that over a period of time the area has become an unauthorised dumping ground for old tyres, adding:

"We are working with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Services and Rother District Council to make the scene safe. The area is being monitored and anyone found illegally dumping on this site will be prosecuted."

Bexhill police are appealing for witnesses or any information pertaining to the fire to call them on (0845) 60 70 999.
