A West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews were called to Albion Road yesterday (March 22) at 1.38pm, to reports of a derelict boat on fire.
Crews from Lancing, Worthing and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service quickly brought the fire under control, the spokesman said, and put it out quickly.
Pictures show the boat well ablaze before the fire service arrived.
A ruined shell has been left behind, in the front garden of a vacant property in Albion Road.
The large house is part of a site recently granted planning permission for 55 flats, all affordable, over two blocks.
