Technical rescue officers used a Unimog crane to winch the pony out of the ditch off Chidham Lane, before leaving it in the care of a vet.

A West Sussex Fire and Rescue spokesman said teams were on the scene from 10.30pm until 1.05am on Sunday, December 6 and the pony did not receive any life-threatening injuries.
