First woman to be appointed president of Bognor Hotham Rotary Club

A first woman president has taken charge of Bognor Hotham Rotary Club.

Phyll Barnett has become the female to break the male dominance of the club's presidency since it was founded in 1989.

Ladies were officially welcomed into the club in 2000. Six are members along with 28 men.

Businesswoman Phyll has lived in Bognor for 50 years and has two children living in the area.

She was previously the chairman of the town's Cancer Research branch for 15 years and has been involved with many fundraising events locally.

Bognor Hotham Rotary Club is best known for holding the Bognor Prom 10k road race each May. Members also arrange an annual Christmas float which raised 6,000 last December.
