Flood alert lifted for Normans Bay and Cooden Beach

The Environment Agency has lifted the alert for the stretch of coast between Sovereign Harbour and the Cooden Beach Hotel, but tide levels are expected to peak on Thursday and Friday (February 11 and 12).

The agency said: “Following this afternoon’s (Monday’s) high tide, the wind strength and wave heights are decreasing, but conditions remain stormy.

“The risk of coastal flooding for the tides on Monday and Tuesday is now low.

“However, tide levels are increasing throughout this week, peaking on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 February.

“The Environment Agency is monitoring the situation and will issue a flood alert if necessary.”
