Flood support from school

GUESTLING based Buckswood School has this week launched a flood appeal with the aim of delivering much needed supplies and provisions to people in the UK who have had their homes flooded.

The appeal is the idea of Science Master, Michael Lawless, who also runs the Duke of Edinburgh scheme at the school.

He said: “It is easy to watch the bad weather on the television, see the waves pounding small Cornish fishing villages , and feel sympathy for the thousands of people who houses have been destroyed, and lives changed forever; but sympathy alone is not going to help them.

“At Buckswood I would like to think that we could help and make a difference.”

The school is hoping to load a van with emergency supplies and is appealing for items such as bedding, tinned food, bottled drinks, batteries, toiletries and clothes for people in the worst affected areas of the country.
