Flowers in bloom at Walberton Horticultural Society show

THE bad weather could not spoil Walberton Horticultural Society's autumn show.

Despite the wind and rain, the show was well attended by both members and the public.

The daffodil and narcissus classes were especially well supported and a similarly-high standard could be seen in the domestic entry categories which showed off members’ talents.

The floral art also attracted a lot of attention, but seasonal vegetables had suffered during the long winter.

Due to the poor growing season the vegetable classes had lower-than-expected entries.

Cups and trophies awarded at the show held last Saturday were:

The Dahlia Cup: Alan Humphrey

The Chrysanthemum Cup: Mrs M Ginman

The Dakers Dibber: John Heathcote

The Floral Art Salver: Mrs C Hickman

The John Mills Memorial Bowl: Mrs Willoughby
