Ford wastecentre opens

The materials recycling facility will enable more materials to be collected from the doorsteps of Bognor Regis area households. Specialist equipment in the centre run by West Sussex County Council and Viridor Waste Management will mechanically sort the recyclables which have been collected.

This means that Arun District Council and its refuse contractor, Verdant, are set to enable all colours of glass jars and bottles to be picked up from people's homes from next year.

Other planned improvements include the collection of beverage cartons, such as Tetra Pak, and aerosols. These additional items are expected to boost the district's recycling rate from 32 per cent of the total waste to 37 per cent in two years.
