Former MP raises funds for Scaynes Hill charity

Former MP turned TV personality Ann Widdecombe has raised £2,500 for Scaynes Hill-based charity Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land.

Ann raised the money on Channel 4’s new quiz show ‘Five Minutes to a Fortune’ on Saturday with her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Anton Du Beke.

Safe Haven’s UK operations director Wendy Ahl said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Ann chose our charity to benefit from the funds she raised on Five Minutes to a Fortune.

“£2,500 will go a long way towards helping us to care for the 180 donkeys at our sanctuary, as well as providing free veterinary clinics to working donkeys across Israel and Palestine. We are very grateful to Ann for all the support she has given us over the past 11 years.”

The money will go towards Safe Haven’s work with donkeys in need in Israel and Palestine.
