Former Pestalozzi students attend 50th anniversary exhibition

The exhibition, running until June 5, is part of the Pestalozzi Archive Project, set up by a grant awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) in 2009 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the charity.

The grant aims to preserve the legacy of Pestalozzi and its involvement with the local community.

The exhibition shows the various groups who have called Sedlescombe their home and their reasons for being there.

Debbie Martin, marketing officer, said: “I would like to thank Pam Thomas who has worked so hard on this project along with various volunteers.

“I was thrilled when some of our first European students came along also, pointing out pictures of themselves when they were children at Pestalozzi.

“It’s a very interesting exhibition and I highly recommend that people go along to view it.”

Claire Mulry, Pestalozzi’s alumni coordinator said: “The exhibition is fantastic and we really enjoyed viewing it with a number of Pestalozzi’s former students; they shared interesting memories and stories about the local area and their time in the village.”

The extensive paper, film and photographic archive is being catalogued and made accessible via East Sussex Records Office (ESRO) and Screen Archive South (SASE).

Members of the public are invited to contribute to the project by recording their memories of the Trust or donating memorabilia.
