Fraud investigation launched after Pagham pensioner scammed out of thousands

The 77-year-old was doorstepped at his home in Cardinal’s Drive just after midday on Thursday, July 2, by a man offering to sell solar panels.

Police said the suspect convinced the victim to order 20 solar panels and took a cheque which was subsequently cashed.

A police spokesman said: “The suspect then left in a car and despite leaving a telephone number has been difficult to get hold of since.

“He is described as white, 6’, of slim build, aged between 30 and 40-years-old, with short dark hair.”

PC Andrew Rosier added: “It was agreed that the work would be completed by July 20, but so far this has not happened.

“We would like to speak to the man who called at the house and anyone who has any information to help us with this investigation.”
