Freedomfor Davinathe powerstation seal

A SEAL which took up residence at Dungeness nuclear power station has been returned to freedom following a 55 day stay.

Davina, who enjoyed a diet of fresh fish, became quite a hit with power station staff after she swan into the station’s forebay.

The forebay is a large open chamber containing seawater drawn in from the English Channel by the water cooling system used by the power station.

The rescue operation was undertaken with the guidance of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue unit.

Davina was released back onto the beach at Sandwhich Bay, safe and well on the same day as her rescue.

Grey seals are not uncommon in the Rye area and there have been sightings in the River Brede.
