Friends group dons the tartan

CLAD in tartan, members of Seaford twinning group the Friends of B nningstedt celebrated Burns' Night.

Thirty members and guests, including some who had travelled from Scotland, ate a meal in honour of the Scots' national poet Rabbie Burns at the Seven Sisters pub on Saturday.

The Selkirk Grace was proposed by chairman Liz Riley and people stood in silence to remember members and friends recently lost, including John Hudson, Norman Brinkworth, Charles Shorter and Renate Kleucker, a journalist from near B nningstedt.

The haggis arrived to the sound of bagpipes and the Address to the Haggis was delivered by social secretary Dennis Morgan.

It was served with traditional Scottish accompaniments tatties and neeps.

The Friends next event is a quiz night with American buffet at St John's, Blatchington Road, at 7.30pm, on February 8. For more details call Dennis Morgan on 01323 893877.
