Friends of Lancing Ring in world record attempt

NEARLY 40 trees were planted in an hour as part of a Guinness world record attempt.

Members of the Friends of Lancing Ring planted 36 trees just north of the site as their contribution to the BBC Breathing Spaces Tree O'clock attempt.

"There were about 20 people who came along to help out and all were rewarded at the end with a glass of sherry and a mince pie," said Adrienne Stevenson, of the Friends of Lancing Ring.

The trees were planted between 11am and noon on Saturday, December 5.

It is not yet known whether the attempt. organised as part of National Tree Week, was successful.

It was hoped one million trees would be planted in the hour.
