From shed to salon: Hastings beautician realises her dream with new Ore shop

Hannah Bannerman-Watson, 36, of Park View, opened Well Gel South East beauty salon in Old London Road, Ore on Saturday (October 29).

The premises is also where her friend, Adrienne Parsons, was born in 1936.

It was part of the Tilekiln Dairy throughout the 1930s and 1940s, run by Jack Parsons and his family living in the flat above.

Hannah said: “I used to do beauty work a long time ago and it was something I loved doing. But I was quite young and not in a position to start something up myself.

“I took a year off from working at Hastings Direct, deciding to follow my dream and it’s been an absolute success.”

Hannah has three staff working with her and hopes to provide more employment locally, as well as offer apprenticeships.

She added: “I started up the beauty salon originally in the shed in my back garden. The business has grown and grown so much that I needed to open up new premises.”

Hannah received congratulations from her friend who was born in the property.

She added: “Adrienne absolutely loves the fact the shop has opened at the house she was born in. She has so many fantastic memories growing up in that house.”

Adrienne said the dairy was run by her father until 1946.
