Fruits of autumn at Orchard Day

NATIONAL Trust property Smallhythe Place, near Rye, is celebrating harvest by holding its annual Orchard Day on Saturday September 21.

There will be a range of stallholders throughout the day, selling and displaying their fresh fruit as well as local artists and craft makers doing live demonstrations all day.

A cider making expert will be demonstrating the work that goes into making it, as well as giving talks on the subject.

Talks will be taking place throughout the day in the historic barn and there are family games in the garden.

James Faulkner, from the National Trust, said: “With the orchards in full fruit it seems the perfect time to display all the home grown produce that we have to offer. “

Smallhythe Place is the former home of Victorian actress Ellen Terry.

Orchard Day is free and runs from 11am - 4pm.
