IT may be unseasonably cold but Robertsbridge residents are getting warm by exercising using this new outdoor gym equipment provided by The Parish Council through funding from a Big Lottery Awards for All Grant.

Robertsbridge councillor Anne Wells said: “This ideal facility which will enable villagers to keep fit and healthy is installed in the village recreation ground near the children’s play area.

“This is the result of a request to the Parish Council from residents and so its great to see people now using the four new types of outdoor equipment in all weathers.

“Robertsbridge offers a range of exercise and play items in its popular recreation ground to suit all abilities and ages providing fun while promoting good health and well-being for all in a social setting. It also fits in with Active Rother’s aims to encourage Rother residents to be more active.”

New outdoor play equipment was installed at the recreation ground in 2009. Funding for the project largely came from a 2m Government grant awarded to East Sussex County Council last year following a successful bid to become a Play Pathfinder area.

Local children were involved in selecting the equipment for juniors and young teens including an aerial runway and modern ‘roundabout’.
