Jill Colbourn, captain of the club, in Marine Parade, Worthing, chose to support the charity as part of her year in the role.

The club raised almost £1,600.

Jill said: “The amount we raised is a record for the club and the volunteers I think. I am absolutely delighted.”

“There is a great need for it as they do not get funding. It is such a worthwhile cause.

“The volunteers told us an emotive story about a girl who would have died if an air ambulance was not on hand. They can get to places ordinary ambulances cannot.”
