Funds For Facelift

COMMUNITY leaders have given a warm welcome to plans for a 243,600 facelift of Littlehampton s nerve centre for voluntary organisations.

Arun Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) outlined its proposals to its patron, Lady Sarah Clutton, Nick Gibb, MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, town mayor Mark Butler and town and Arun councillors, when they paid a visit last week.

The six-figure funding from the Home Office will transform the CVS headquarters at The Dairy, Church Street.

As well as a general refurbishment, it will pay for new offices to be created on the third floor, enabling smaller groups to have a proper base for the first time.

The project, named DOVE Dairy Operation for Voluntary Enterprise is in partnership with Littlehampton Town Council, which owns the premises.

CVS manager Valerie Sharp said Lady Sarah had been very impressed with the plans. She wanted to see the offices before the work started, to come back when we are halfway through and again when it is all completed.

Nick Gibb had a letter from a Government minister about the grant and he wanted to see our plans, too, and we invited the mayor and town council because they are our partners in the scheme.
