Funeral date announced for young Sussex cricket star

Police Scotland continue to investigate the death of the 22-year-old Eastbourne-born pace bowler but said there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
His funeral will be on Monday February 1 in a private ceremony attended by family and invited guests only.

Hide AdA Thanksgiving Service to celebrate Matthew’s life will take place on Friday February 5 at 11am.
That service is open to all.
In a statement on the Sussex Cricket website a spokesperson said, “The wishes of Matthew’s family are that people should not wear black to this event and that no flowers are sent. A collection will be made at the church for the Sussex Cricket Foundation. “
A Book of Condolences, which is in Reception at the County Ground, will remain open until the afternoon of February 5. Messages can be added by emailing: [email protected]
Matthew is believed to have fallen asleep before plunging to his death while celebrating the new year with friends at a country house in Forres, near Inverness.
