Gallery exhibition dedicated to Diana

A NEW exhibition at the Crypt Gallery, Seaford, is dedicated to a councillor who campaigned for the historic building's restoration.

Diana Stiles, a former chairman of Lewes District Council and Seaford Sutton Ward councillor for a decade, died at Christmas last year.

She opened the gallery in 1994 and was one of its greatest supporters.

Lewes District Council arts officer Carole Buchan said: 'Diana was instrumental in getting the Crypt converted into a gallery and after she retired as councillor worked there as a steward.

'The last show she worked at was Christmas last year so we wanted to dedicate this exhibition to her memory.'

Mrs Stiles's sons, Patrick and Geoffrey, attended the Saturday opening of the exhibition which features ceramics, lampshades, clothing and jewellery. It continues until December 21.
