GALLERY: South of England Show

Sussex-produced food and fine wines shared a sunny showground with creatures great and small at the South of England Show.

The emphasis of this year's show was to buy local, reduce food miles, enjoy freshness and support local farmers and producers.

Near perfect weather greeted the Duke of Norfolk who formally opened the show bringing his own two Gloucester old spot pigs and provided great support for the popular first-ever Pig Village.

As well as prize-winning cattle, sheep, goats and horses, visitors admired rabbits, birds of prey, fancy poultry, ferrets and even bats brought by the Sussex Bat Hospital.

The show also saw the launch of the Sussex Food and Drink Awards 2008/09 which formally opened for public votes.
