Gardeners boost surgery coffers

Patients at two surgeries will benefit from Felpham gardeners who invited others to view their handiwork.

The proceeds of about 6,500 from the latest open gardens weekend have been presented to representatives of Avisford Health Centre in Middleton and Flansham Park Health Centre.

The donations were presented by Father Timothy Peskett, the rector at Felpham's St Mary's Church. Accepting the money were Dr Peter Speer, from the Avisford Medical Group, and the health centre's Lyn Kelsey and Geraldine Simmans.

Both surgeries have opted to purchase a 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure machine.

This helps to manage patients who have difficulty controlling their blood pressure or who become nervous when attending the surgery. These machines are not routinely available in GP surgeries, meaning both practices were grateful to receive the donations.
