Ghostly events at Ocean Bowling

Staff have been given the willies by a host of unexplained phenomena in Ocean Bowling at Ravenside Retail Park, including shadowy figures, spooky chills and faulty electrical equipment.

And mediums Michael Kingscote and Colin Fuller believe they have found something.

With the help of the photographer the pair snapped over 200 pictures showing 'orbs' of light - evidence they say of ghostly activity.

They also claim to have seen movement in the shadows and felt a strong presence in the building.

A monitor even blew up during the course of their overnight stay.

"I really didn't expect it," said Michael. "It is the sort of activity you might expect in a castle or an old house but this is a bowling alley. It really is surprising.

"To be honest I wasn't expecting much. I just thought it would be people spreading rumours to wind each other up, if anything I was only expecting to get a free drink out of it so I was really surprised.

"We got there about midnight and set the infra red cameras up and we could already notice changes. Throughout the night we could hear noises and saw shadows. The electrical equipment kept playing up."

A clairvoyant, Michael claims he sensed some names from the past during the visit.

"I got a William or Bill Tweedy, a Sanderson and Maguire. We will go off and research those names but if any members of the public know of a link with the place that would help us.

"There's definitely energy there. The crazy thing is it is at bowling alley which isn't what you would expect."

Michael and Colin plan to return for another vigil.

"It is not a publicity stunt or anything like that," said Michael. "But people shouldn't worry. I certainly didn't feel threatened in the time I was there."

Ocean Bowling manager Pam Alty said: "I'm very spiritual and since I started here I have told people there was something, but they would just say 'leave it out'. It is fantastic to find we do have something.

"Michael got another name too, a 'Walters' connected to the gas works, so Sally the bar maid and I are going to research that.

"When Michael and Colin got here their equipment just went crazy. It was amazing.

"We did a cleansing to try and get rid of some of the things here but the spirits still seem to be about. Michael and Colin will come back for another vigil and see what is left. I would just like to thank them for taking an interest."
