Girl power at HastingsRotary club-more wanted
Hastings Rotary Club has acquired a fairer light at the helm with Gayle Benet taking over the role as President from Peter Georgiadis.
Peter says for a hundred years Rotary was very much a male preservative, “But twenty-five years ago that preserve was challenged by an American woman, who decided that she should become a member in that male dominated regime,” he said. “She won her court case and Rotary International was forced, kicking and screaming to open its doors. There are now thousand of lady members all over the world, and to be fair to Hastings Rotary Club, they opened their doors very quickly some twenty years ago. Gayle joined the club in 2005.
