Girl punched and robbed in Littlehampton alley

A TEENAGE girl was robbed while walking through a Littlehampton alleyway.

She was walking between Kent Road and Cornwall Road when a man punched her in the face, before grabbing her around the mouth. The girl struggled and elbowed the man, who then ran off with her handbag.

Sgt Peter Allan, of Littlehampton Police, said: "The victim knocked on the door of a nearby house asking for help. Police were very quickly on the scene and upon speaking to the victim arrested a local man nearby. Subsequent enquires led to all of the stolen property being recovered."

The man has since been charged with robbery, and remanded in custody.

"Police are appealing for witnesses to this offence, which happened at about 9.15pm on April 14, in particular a man who was walking what is believed to be a golden retriever dog," added Sgt Allan.

Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
