Give blood at Rye session

IF you are a Rye resident with a bit of time to spare, then why not call in to Rye Community Primary School on Thursday October 31 and donate blood.

John Canning, Lead Donor Relations Manager at NHS Blood and Transplant, said: “The demand for blood is never ending and hospitals in England and North Wales need 7,000 units of blood every day so every blood donor at every session counts.

“The blood donor session at Rye has space for more donors and we are encouraging people to book appointments or drop into session if they have a spare moment.

“Giving blood is easy to do and takes around an hour. One donation can potentially save the lives of up to three people.

“ Donated blood is not only used in accident and emergency situations but also for patients undergoing surgery and receiving treatment for cancer and other blood diseases.

First time donors should be aged between 17-65, weighing at least 50 kg (7 stone 12lbs) and in general good health.
