Government minister visits Littlehampton fire charity

Fire minister Brandon Lewis has visited The Fire Fighters’ Charity’s new rehabilitation centre in Littlehampton.

He was welcomed to Marine Court, in Fitzalan Road, by the charity’s chief executive John Parry, who took him on a tour of the facilities and explained how the organisation is developing new mental health support programmes for the fire and rescue community – and moving to a new seven day a week service from April.

Mr Lewis said: “It is really good to see The Fire Fighters’ Charity planning for the future of the fire and rescue community, while delivering a great frontline service with its new re-ablement services.

“The charity’s plans to broaden the range of rehabilitation and mental health services available to serving
and retired fire fighters, and their families, represent a significant investment in the future of the UK’s fire and rescue service.”
