Grant cash up for grabs for groups

COMMUNITY groups could be in line for a much-needed cash boost, thanks to Littlehampton Town Council.

The council is running its grant aid scheme for voluntary clubs and organisations based in the Littlehampton area.

Applications for the grants, awarded annually to cultural, charitable and sporting activities for the benefit of the community, can be made from the April 1.

Councillor Malcolm Belchamber, chairman of the council’s community resources committee, said: “The town council actively encourages groups and organisations to apply for grants. We recognise their needs and goals and wish to help this sector in achieving its objectives.”

Groups will be assessed on their overall objectives and how the cash could help them.

Last year the authority awarded West Sussex Asperger’s Awareness Group (WSAAG) funding of £500.

The boost from the council enabled the group to rent an office, giving their members a base for support meetings.

Application forms are available to download from the town council’s website www.littlehampton-tc.gov.uk or from the council’s offices at the Manor House, in Church Street, Littlehampton.

The closing date for all applications for grants is May 16, with successful groups being notified by early July.
