Great day for Little Common School fair

NOT warm but it didn't rain - the weather on Saturday wasn't perfect for everyone, but for Little Common Primary School it was just the ticket.

The summer fair was a great success according to one of the organisers Julie Puri, who said that 1,500 adults came through the door plus children.

The fete made a total of around £5,000.

Attractions included a tug-o-war, dancing by the students of Lacey Theatre Arts, a display by Summerfields gymnasts and one by a karate club, and the perennial favourite which is gunging a member of staff - in this case Lex Beckett.

Julie said: “Everyone loves it. It is really popular. The children have to pay to vote for who they want to gunge.”

She thanked caretaker Brett Burton for working “like a trojan” to make the day a success, and Lucie Smith, the PTA chairman, “who also worked her socks off”.
