The Guides have been celebrating all year and to mark the end of the special event, they spent part of the summer term working towards their party planner badge, together planning a birthday party with a campfire theme.

At the beginning of the year, a competition was held for the Guides to design a special badge to commemorate the 40th anniversary.

The designs were judged by the district guiders, district and division commissioners, and the winner chosen was Izzy.

The finished badge was presented at the party to past and present members of the unit. The design was also turned into a cake for everyone to enjoy.

Guide leader Chrissie Oliver said: “The party was enjoyed by the Guides and their families, and other district guiders.

“Special guests were also present, such as Wendy, a past Guide leader of 1st Aldingbourne Guides, and adult leader trainers Pat and Rosemary.

“The evening started with welcoming drinks and a trip down memory lane with photo boards showing guiding events throughout the 40 years the unit has been running and ended with an indoor campfire sing song enjoyed by all.”
