Gull team rescue another stranded bird

A HARDY seagull survived five days trapped in netting on the roof of a housing block after residents called the national rescue operation.

Tim McKenzie, founder of National Gull Rescue and Protection (NGRP), was helping another gull in St Leonards when he was called to Bellview Court, an independent accommodation centre centre on Cranfield Road, at around lunchtime last Wednesday.

After climbing through a skylight, he found the gull trapped upside down.

"That probably saved its life," he said, "because it could get at a bit of rainwater."

Amazingly, after a course of antibiotics, the gull is set to make a full recovery.

Tim, who is currently receiving around 70 calls a day concerning troubled gulls, said: "If you see an injured gull, please don't assume that someone else is going to phone us, because a lot of the time they won't. And please move the gull if it is in any danger."
