Gun death man named

Andrew Stevens, 36, from Wickham Hill, Stapleton, Bristol, shot himself in the head with a rifle in an alley to Fair Hall.

Mr Stevens had travelled to Lewes to see a woman, who is understood to be a former lover, who lived in the house.

On Tuesday last week neighbours in the quiet residential area called police after spotting Mr Stevens acting suspiciously in the street before climbing over a wall to the house.

When police arrived Mr Stevens killed himself in front of an officer.

The matter has been passed to the Independent Police Complaints Commission for investigation.
