A statement given by Mr Warren to his solicitors before he died revealed he had worked at a number of care homes to install boilers. This involved working with asbestos lagging to surround the pipes.

Mr Warren said in his statement, “I wasn’t given a mask and there was no warning it was unsafe at the time.”

East Sussex coroner Alan Craze ruled Mr Warren’s death was due to an industrial disease.
