Handbell group ring up big cash boost for Bognor hospital

A group of Bognor Regis musicians has increased its donations to the town's hospital by a third.

The Bognor Regis Handbell Ringers, pictured left, recently handed over their final donation to the hospital's Friends from last year's performances.

The presentation of 750 took the total amount raised by the ten performers last year to 1,200. This compares to the 900 collected in 2007.

Pauline Allsopp, the secretary of the handbell ringers, said: "The main reason for the increase is the funds raised at the summer concert where everybody had a most enjoyable and entertaining afternoon.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the group for their enthusiasm and commitment which has enabled us to entertain many people, support a very good cause, and enjoy ourselves."

As well 400 from the concert, the ringers also received 50 from Bersted Parish Council for taking part in the parish festival.
