Obstacle course runners could raise '˜up to £10,000' for local families this summer.

The Gauntlet Games’ founder Sarah King said about 100 participants were expected to raise between £30 and £100 for Home-Start CHAMS.

The charity which is based in Longley House, Crawley, and supports parents with children aged under five in Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex areas is the local charity partner for the Gladiators gameshow-themed event.

An organisers’ statement said 70 per cent of the 4,000 people who ran the series of games across the UK in 2015 were women.

It said they were designed to be inclusive and added: “The race has a 5km or 10km option with up to 20 obstacles, with challenges against real Gladiators along the way.

“Obstacles include giant inflatables, the huge Gauntlet with three pugil-stick wealding Gladiators, a mega slippery slide and in true Gladiators style, a rope swing onto an air bag at the finish line!”

The event will take place in the Hyde Estate, Handcross on August 6.

Sarah said it would have 15 brand new obstacles, new venues and the new local Charity Partner and added ‘our Gladiators are chomping at the bit to get started!’

“Our prices start at just £35, which includes a free technical t-shirt and a medal. And you can run or walk the 5km route so it is achievable for everyone to come along and give it a go.”
