Harvest festival full of surprise

Every class was involved in either reading, saying prayers, acting out harvest stories and singing to the rafters.

Pupils who currently learn the violin in school also gave a short concert.

Church warden, Paul Smith set up the church and to Foundation Governor Richard Williams for gave a closing blessing.

The school thanks everyone who donated a tin of food for the Family Support Network in St Leonards, to which the retiring collection will be added.

The PTFA had sown a seed with each child in the school as part of their “Big Sow” project and the children took their seeds home to grow over the summer holidays.

The children brought their produce into school and it was put on display.

The PTFA awarded prizes for largest pumpkin, most unusual shaped vegetable, best display of produce and finally, biggest surprise, the surprise being that the seed planted was for a sunflower and the plant that grew turned out to be a pumpkin!

These prizes were given out during the harvest service at church.
