Hastings Museum's success in £85k bid

The money comes from the Museum Resilience Fund, which supports museums in adapting to economic, environmental and social change so they can continue to deliver high quality work and become more sustainable and resilient businesses.

Councillor Dawn Poole, lead member for culture at Hastings Borough Council, said: “This is fantastic news for Hastings and the future of the museum. The £85,000 fund will finance a project called ‘Finding our Place 2’.

“This will see Hastings Museum and Art Gallery transform its identity and visibility, both to the public and internally to staff.

“The project will focus on four core areas of work: marketing and promotion, audience development and engagement, business development and a review of the collection strategy.

“We want to continue to offer residents and visitors to Hastings an exceptional museum that is modern and sustainable.

“This will be an 18-month project which will start in October this year to April 2018 and we very much look forward to seeing the results.”

Hastings Museum and Art Gallery was one of 94 museums nationally to receive part of the £12m pot given out by the Arts Council’s Museum Resilience Fund.
