Have Your Say in Bexhill

The first step towards a Local Action Plan for Bexhill was taken with the first Have Your Say event at Parkhurst Hall.

A steady flow of interested people attended during the day, completing questionnaires, marking up facilities on maps and making comments on their views about services and facilities, both present and future in Bexhill, along with what they wanted to see by way of improvements in their neighbourhood.

Local Action Plan Development Officer Ian Coleman said: "It was really encouraging to see how much people like their town and care about its future.

"And alongside common, nationwide issues such as speeding and recycling, and it was interesting to see how many people expressed views about cycle paths along the seafront."

"The action plan will set out people's ideas on what needs doing and who might take a lead in making it happen.

"Alongside highlighting priorities for agencies and service providers to respond to, the process is about identifying what neighbourhoods can be doing for themselves.

"There are many small community projects such as community planting schemes and neighbourhood tidy-ups which focus on the little things that make a positive difference to the areas in which people live, work and play.

"Then there are things like community archive projects, local celebrations and street parties which are not only fun, but help to bring neighbours together and get them working together and learning about each other and the places they live."
