She has already visited some industrial estates to provide health briefings and carried out blood pressure tests at September's town show in Bognor.

Karen said the project made use of the fact most working people spent a greater part of their lives at their jobs.

But this was seldom considered when healthy lifestyle advice was offered.

She also urged bosses to make their workers' health their business.

'Their employees are vital for their success and poor health can seriously affect this,' she stated.

Karen's project is being funded by 45,000 over two years by the Arun local strategic partnership of the public, private and voluntary sectors.

The money has come from the government-backed local area agreement, which focuses on improving the quality of life in disadvantaged areas across West Sussex.
