Help dogs charity receives boost from police in Chichester

The charity, which is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, trains dogs to help people with everyday tasks they would otherwise find difficult, painful or impossible. These might include opening doors, undressing, pressing buttons or calling for help in an emergency.

Canine Partners’ regional fundraiser Jane Grant said: “We are very grateful for this donation which will enable us to train more assistance dogs and help transform the lives of people with disabilities.”

Peter Allan, Sussex Police hate crime sergeant, said: “We have undertaken a lot of work in relation to disability over the last few months. I am pleased that we have been able to present a cheque to Canine Partners whose focus is on supporting disabled people to become more independent.”

The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.
