The Healthy Walks in Arun programme is appealing for a volunteer walk leader to join the Littlehampton-based scheme.

The role would see leaders organising slower and shorter walks for those less mobile, with volunteers being asked to spare as little an hour a month.

The programme is run by Inspire Leisure and currently covers Littlehampton, Arundel, Felpham and Bognor Regis.

However, project organisers are hoping that it will roll-out to the outlying villages and smaller communities in Arun, later this year.

Volunteer leaders would need to attend a training day to learn how to lead a safe and enjoyable walk for all ages and abilities.

Drivers are being sought to bolster a charity which offers care-at-home services for terminally-ill children or youngsters with life-threatening illnesses.

The Snowdrop Trust is appealing for drivers to offer transportation to hospitals and medical appointments for families across the Arun district.

This may include waiting for the family during the appointment before returning home.

The Angmering Community Centre Association is seeking a number of drop-in café assistants to join its team.

The role would be based at the centre, in Foxwood Avenue. Assistants would help to run the centre’s café and keep it open for the community. They would be supporting the manager. The ability to make a good cup of tea or coffee would be a useful skill.

Age UK West Sussex is appealing for more people to join its home from hospital service.

The aim of the scheme is to offer help to people as they settle back into their homes after a spell in hospital. Volunteers would devise an action plan for them to continue living independently.

Each volunteer is matched with a person for six weeks and would offer them a range of support, from practical help in getting the shopping to simply providing a friendly face to chat to.
