HELP, PLEASE, TO SUSTAIN OUR FAIR

A SUSTAINABILITY fair is looking for a new backer after the original sponsor pulled out.

The event '“ Midsummer Sensations at Telscombe Cliffs on June 24-25 '“ is the brainchild of Lewes District Council's chairman, Marina Pepper.

She said: 'I wanted to do something for our community that would help them to address a whole host of issues from climate change to anti-social behaviour.

'We have lots of young local bands booked and many people from the community are sharing their knowledge. We need sponsorship to cover the costs of things like toilets, marquees, and even the cost of willow to make lanterns so we can light up the park. I just hope there's a company or several companies out there who can help. There's no chance of us cancelling this event. But it would be a shame not to do the project justice.'

Cllr Pepper thinks a supermarket or a car company might help. 'I'm a pragmatist,' she said.

'I don't drive and I don't use supermarkets. But I will go cap in hand because sustainability is so important and I know Midsummer Sensations will make a difference.'

She said she understood why the original sponsors, whom she prefers not to name, had to pull out and added that there were no bad feelings.
