After private healthcare provider BUPA CSH Ltd pipped Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to securing a £235 million musculoskeletal (MSK) services contract, concerns have been raised over the effect it will have on patients in our area.
The Herald & Gazette are calling on health bosses to provide a written guarantee that no harm will come to our A&E and orthopaedic services as a result of BUPA receiving the contract.
Former councillor Tom Wye, whose finest hour in his public post came as chairman of the Keep Worthing and Southlands Hospitals (KWASH) campaign back in 2007, has backed the fight.
Mr Wye said: “I will fight to the dying breath in my body to ensure that no A&E closes in Worthing.”
