Helpers sought for wildlife haven in Pagham

Volunteers with an interest in wildlife conservation are being sought for the Pagham Harbour nature reserve.

They are needed to get involved with the day-to-day running of the wildlife haven.

Cllr Deborah Urquhart, county cabinet member for environment and economy, said there were many roles available, from working outdoors on a practical project to acting as a steward in the visitor centre.

Some of the roles included working with the education officer and planning activities for school visits, helping develop the 'discovery area' in the outdoor classroom, and working as a steward in the visitor centre to answer inquiries and planning and updating displays.

Training and support was available to all volunteers.

"Whether you are looking for voluntary work or a new experience, a new hobby, or you are keen to do something to help protect the local wildlife, we may have the opportunity for you," she added.
