Helping-hand for hospice in trouble
Staff at South Downs Nurseries in Hassocks were on-hand to lend a van and driver so that St Peter & St Hames Hospice at Chailey could operate their planned Christmas tree collection scheme which was raising much-needed funds.

Hide AdRichard Knowler and Cameron Wallis from the Brighton Road business took-up the challenge and collected the many trees which residents were having collected after Twelfth Night, in return for making a donation to the hospice.
“When the hospice called and explained the situation, we wanted to do our bit to help, to ensure that those who’d booked a collection would not be let down”, said Gavin Mumford, branch manager at the Hassocks-based garden centre. “We were pleased to be able support the fundraising effort and help the charity raise as much as possible.”
