Volunteers roles include call centre staff, medical professionals, sports masseurs, drivers, marshals and those manning drinks stations along the route.
A volunteer briefing evening is being held on Wednesday (March 20) for those volunteers already registered, providing them with key timings, emergency protocols and course maps.
Stuart Batchelor, vice president at American Express, said: “Since the start in 2010, thousands of people have volunteered with energy and enthusiasm, making this long-running event very special.
